This role sits in the Operations & Integration organization within Experiences (DX) Technology & Digital. The Technical Writer will report to the Manager, Technology for Data Analytics & Reporting.
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining clear and concise documentation for data-related processes, tools, and technologies. You will work closely with data engineers, and other teams to communicate complex data concepts in a way that is easily understood by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You Will Do
Documentation: • Create and Maintain Documentation: Write and update data documentation such as data dictionaries, data models, API guides, integration manuals.
• Create user manuals, technical guides, and tutorials for data tools and platforms, including databases and analytics tools.
• Document data workflows and architectures, including data storage, retrieval, and processing methods.
• Translate complex technical jargon into clear, concise language for non-technical audiences when needed.
Discovery and Research: • Collaborate with technical and business teams (data engineers, QA, stakeholders etc.) to gather information and ensure documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easy to follow.
Quality :
• Ensure quality and consistency in all documentation produced, adhering to company standards and style guides.
• Maintain version control of all documentation and ensure that updates are made as the systems evolve.
• Review and validate documentation against current data systems and workflows to ensure it reflects the latest system changes and updates.
Basic Qualifications: • Proven experience (2+ years) as a technical writer, preferably in the data field or related industries.
• Familiarity with data-related technologies and platforms such as SQL, Python, ETL tools, Snowflake, and data visualization platforms.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with a focus on clarity and accuracy.
• Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to diverse audiences.
• Ability to understand and document complex technical data systems and workflows.
• Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, Git, or similar platforms.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
• Proven experience creating clear, concise, and well-organized technical documentation. Strong portfolio of writing samples, including data-related content, user manuals, or API documentation.
• Understanding of data warehousing tools, data visualization, and other related data platforms.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and how to document API calls, responses, and parameters.
• Knowledge of basic programming or scripting languages (Ex. SQL, Python)
