Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote per week)

Wave Kilo is seeking a highly organized and growth-minded Account Director to join their growing team. The Account Director will lead day-to-day brand awareness and reputation building activities across a handful of Wave Kilo clients.

The Role.

The Account Director has the unique opportunity to play a leading role in the agency and support its client growth. The Account Director will support core client programming as well as tentpole moments and broader high-visibility projects. They’ll play a major role in overarching client program management, execution, measurement and reporting, and will ensure that agency plans align to and support our clients’ key business purpose, objectives and values.

The successful candidate will be a captivating storyteller and a strong partner who can make connections across their networks. They are personally and professionally interested in tech, and regularly seek to deepen their knowledge of emerging trends in tech, industry challenges, policy developments, and the evolving priorities of tech leaders.

The Account Director will need strong writing skills and pitching abilities, and must be able to be resourceful and multitask. Candidates should demonstrate strong work ethic, an eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish strong relationships with client partners to gain a clear understanding of objectives
  • Effectively advise client leaders on communications strategy to protect reputation and build brand equity
  • Develop and execute strategic brand and communications plans
  • Write, edit and manage the production of a wide range of communications on behalf of Senior Executives
  • Proactively compose thought leadership bylines, pitch stories and generate brand awareness, especially around emerging technologies
  • Handle media inquiries and grow media relationships

Experience / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • 6-9 years of experience in communications or related field (marketing, journalism, etc.), agency experience is a plus
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to guide and support senior business leaders as they work to achieve their visibility and reputation goals
  • An understanding of the tech sector, with the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling stories
  • A proven track record of securing meaningful media coverage for tech clients
  • An intuitive grasp of the unique comms needs of startups, innovators, and established tech brands
  • Excellent presentation skills and executive presence
  • Creative and strategic thinker with strong writing and editing skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability and ability to prioritize multiple projects and clients at the same time
  • Self-starter with a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit
