Working Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday (off Sunday and Monday)

The Position Summary:
Are you passionate about inspiring curiosity and creativity in children? The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum (BBCM) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Educator to help shape engaging, hands-on learning experiences both inside the museum and out in the community!

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop and lead innovative programs for early learners and school-aged children. Whether facilitating hands-on activities in our Be A Maker Space (BAM), leading interactive Field Trip programs, or bringing educational fun to local neighborhoods with our Wonder Wagon, you’ll play a vital role in making learning exciting and accessible for all.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate play-based learning experiences at the Museum for daily programming, field trip groups, enhanced experiences for special events and out in the community for outreach programming. 

  • Collaborate with the Museum's education team to evaluate and develop engaging, interactive, and age-appropriate programs for early learners and school-aged children, including but not limited to StoryTime, Fork Farms, BAM, and Field Trip and Outreach programs. 

  • Incorporate a variety of educational strategies, including hands-on activities, experiments, demonstrations, and storytelling, to enhance learning experiences, while ensuring all programs align with educational standards, objectives, and the Museum's mission.

  • Facilitate programs and activities that actively engage children and families, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Assist and support coordination of field trip groups and outreach events both within the Museum and in the community.

  • Adapt program delivery to optimize engagements and learning outcomes based on participants' age, abilities, and interests. 

  • Maintain organized inventory of program supplies and resources. 

  • Monitor budget and track purchasing and expenses throughout the year. 

  • Serve as day of point of contact for on-site field trips and scheduled outreach programs.

  • Track participation data for programming, outreach, and field trips, supporting grant reporting and program evaluation.

  • Analyze program impact and effectiveness by ensuring completion of participant surveys and collecting relevant data.

  • Drive and operate the Museum’s Wonder Wagon for off-site community programs and events. 

  • Respond promptly to emergency situations to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred
  • 2-3 years of teaching or facilitation experience with children ages 0-10. 
  • Valid and clean driving record and comfortable driving the Wonder Wagon
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings or evenings as needed

  • Positive, can-do attitude, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional service to Museum visitors, participants, and community partners, ensuring that all experiences are positive, engaging, and impactful.
  • Ability to design, plan, and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate programs that align with educational objectives, while simultaneously being able to think outside the box and create fun, educational, and interactive programming that aligns with educational objectives.
  • Strong understanding of developmental milestones and age-appropriate educational strategies to create engaging, play-based learning experiences for both early learners and school-aged children.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for clearly conveying instructions and collaborating with children, families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Effective in managing groups of children (up to 30+ individuals), ensuring safety, maintaining focus, and promoting positive behavior in both structured and unstructured settings.
  • Ability to adjust programs and teaching strategies based on the diverse needs, interests, and learning styles of participants, in both museum and outreach environments.
  • Skilled in managing multiple responsibilities, such as program delivery, inventory management, budget tracking, and data collection, to ensure efficient operation.
  • Strong ability to quickly resolve issues related to logistics, participant needs, or unforeseen challenges, ensuring smooth program delivery.
  • Ability to track and analyze participation data, evaluate program effectiveness, and complete required reporting, such as participant surveys and grant evaluation metrics.

The starting salary for this position is $45,000
