The Director of Executive Security is responsible for developing and overseeing executive security strategies, ensuring the safety and protection of key personnel (primarily CEO and President. This position requires a proactive leader with extensive experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or military operations. The Director will lead executive security operations, including risk assessments, threat analysis, personal protection, travel security, and crisis management through threats or concerns. This role will involve close coordination with internal stakeholders, external security agencies, and law enforcement to mitigate risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities: - Executive Protection: Develop and implement executive security protocols for CEO, President, and Possibly Chairman of the Board, including travel security and close protection when required.
- Risk Assessment & Threat Management: Conduct ongoing risk assessments, threat analyses, and security audits to identify and mitigate potential risks to key personnel and company assets. Overseeing day-to-day security operations, including access control systems, surveillance systems, and assessment of external security personnel.
- Security Operations: Oversee security measures at corporate offices, financial venues, events, and executive residences, ensuring a safe environment for employees and visitors. Monitoring security incidents and coordinating effective response procedures. Evaluating performance and providing feedback to external security contractors.
- Crisis Response & Emergency Planning: Develop and maintain crisis response plans for executive protection, including emergency evacuation procedures and incident management protocols. Staying updated on emerging security threats and trends to proactively address potential issues.
- Travel Security: Coordinate global and domestic travel security for executives, including route planning, security detail assignments, and emergency contingencies.
- Technology & Surveillance: Monitor and manage surveillance systems, access controls, and other security technologies to enhance corporate security. Ensuring adherence to all relevant security laws, regulations, and company safety and security policies. Collaborating with other departments (e.g., IT, Legal, HR, facilities) to integrate security measures across the organization.
- Investigations: Conduct and oversee security investigations related to threats, breaches, or incidents involving executives.
- Vendor & Law Enforcement Coordination: Work closely with third-party security firms, local law enforcement, and emergency responders to enhance security preparedness.
- Training & Awareness: Provide security training and situational awareness programs to executives and relevant staff members as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience: Experience Required: 20+ years of progressive experience in executive protection, corporate security, law enforcement, or military operations.
Proven experience in managing security operations for high-profile individuals.
Expertise in crisis management, emergency response, and risk mitigation strategies.
Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Law Enforcement, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred: Master's degree or specialized security certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP), or similar credentials).
Certifications & Licensure: Required: Active California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) firearm permit.
Preferred: CPR, First Aid, and defensive driving certifications.
Skills & Competencies: - Strong leadership and crisis management abilities.
- Excellent situational awareness and risk assessment skills.
- Proficiency in security technology, including surveillance and access control systems.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Physical fitness and agility to respond quickly in security situations.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: The position requires frequent travel, sometimes with little notice, to accompany executives and ensure security readiness. Must be able to stand, walk, and perform security checks for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and respond quickly in emergency situations. Role involves working outside standard business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Pay Range: $149,882.00 - $224,823.00
