Azure Data Engineer – Join Our Thriving Data & AI Practice at Expeed Software

Now, our Data & AI Practice is thriving and expanding , and we’re seeking an Azure Data Engineer as a critical addition to our team. Who We’re Looking For: A confident, skilled engineer who can hold their own – someone ready to lead data projects and make impactful technical decisions while working alongside a high-performing team . You’ll spearhead the modernization of a major legacy (monolithic) data system and build cutting-edge data pipelines on Azure. Key Responsibilities

• Modernize Legacy Systems: Lead the transformation of a monolithic legacy data system into a modern, scalable data architecture , enabling domain-focused data insights and future growth.
• Build Scalable Data Pipelines: Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable data pipelines using Azure services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks ) to ingest, transform, and integrate data from various sources.
• Optimize Performance: Optimize data storage and processing performance – tune SQL queries and databases, implement indexing and caching strategies, and ensure high availability and efficiency of data workflows.
• Data Governance & Compliance: Implement strong data governance and security best practices (role-based access control, encryption, data masking) to protect sensitive data. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g. SOC 2, GDPR) across all data solutions.
• Collaborative Solution Delivery: Work closely with data architects, analysts, and AI/ML teams to deliver clean, reliable data sets for analytics and BI needs. Champion best practices in data engineering and contribute to architectural decisions that drive innovation.
• Continuous Improvement: Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, automate workflows (CI/CD for data), and continually refine processes to improve reliability, scalability, and quality of our data platform.

Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with strong expertise in Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks).
• Proven ability to design and build complex ETL/ELT pipelines for both batch and real-time data processing in a cloud environment.
• Strong SQL and database skills, including writing complex queries and performance tuning (query optimization, indexing, stored procedures) for large datasets.
• Hands-on experience modernizing legacy data systems or re-architecting monolithic databases into modern cloud data platforms.
• Solid understanding of data security, governance, and privacy – familiarity with RBAC , encryption techniques, and compliance frameworks (e.g. data privacy regulations, SOC 2).
• Leadership and teamwork: Demonstrated ability to lead data initiatives and make decisions in a collaborative, high-performance team setting.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous learning – you stay current with emerging data technologies and love to share knowledge.
